We at Raising Girls are deeply saddened by the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and Manuel Ellis. These are just a few of the many people who have been taken from this world far too soon. We at Raising Girls believe that Black lives matter, and are so disheartened by the injustices we continue to see. We know that racism is not new, but this is a time when many are taking the time to educate themselves.
While this is a devastating time, we also see this as an opportunity for us in our own communities to have the tough conversations about race, and to be vulnerable and honest with one another. To have the world we want for the next generation, we have to be the change we want to see and that starts with doing work in our communities.
We serve a population that is 75% Black girls (90% girls of color total). It is important that we continue this work for them so they can grow up with confidence to be whatever they want to be!
Below are ways for you to get involved.
Educate yourself, sign petitions, teach your children, and have meaningful conversations with people in your community.
